Tom Cruise Admits Acting "Arrogant" with Matt Lauer

The rematch between Tom Cruise and Matt Lauer went over pretty smoothly for all parties involved, as the star sat down with the Today show host while on the press tour for his new movie Valkyrie.

Talk of the movie was minimal, however; the previous interview cast a long shadow. At first, Cruise actually seemed nervous to talk about it, finally stammering out that he was disappointed in himself for coming across as arrogant. "That's one of those things where you go, okay, I could've absolutely handled that better," he said.

Eventually he seemed to ease up, explaining that he's since been following the philosophy that "there's a time and a place" for talking about Scientology and his other causes, and a press tour for a movie isn't one of them. (He also explains the can't-win situation that every controversy-ridden celebrity has to endure: "If I don't talk about it, it's like, 'Why aren't you talking about it?' If you talk about it, it's like, 'Oh, you're proselytizing.'")
