Sweaty Men

sweaty_man.jpgApparently, scientists have determined that the smell of a man's sweat (not the nervous kind) is a type of aphrodisiac for women. Technically, it increases the production of cortisol, which is a component in helping the body to maintain "proper" arousal (begging the question, is there such a thing as improper arousal?).

Women who smelled a specific component in men's sweat reported improved mood, higher sexual arousal, and had increased blood pressure, heart rate and breathing within 15 minutes, and sustained this for an hour.

Could this be the non-drug answer to any of the types of depression that afflict women? Do you think it's true? Do you notice the smell of a man's sweat when it isn't nasty funky?

PS - I hate the above picture too. I'm hoping my cohort, Jared, will work his magic and find me a new image and plunk it in there soon. The idea of having him do a google search on "sweaty man" just makes me giggle. Thanks, Jared!
