Snoop: You got schooled.

Three words that sum up Friday night's concert. Ice Cube schooled Snoop Dogg with his energy, enthusiasm and mastery of the crowd. Too bad he was only on for 30 or so minutes, because frankly, he was worth the money.

Snoop on the other hand, asked the audience at least twice between each song if they were having a good time. "Is anyone out there having a good time?" "Hey mothaf**kers! Are you having a good time?" He actually performed for maybe 30 minutes. The rest of the time was filled with self indulgent crap like a whole song of his Uncle June Bug dancing (badly) and a performance of the 70s classic "Mary Jane". Wait, it wasn't a performance. It was a record. And they played it.

There were "Snoopettes", four women of whom the sole caucasian was the only one with a good booty pop. Don't ask why I know this; just watch "Bump 'n' Grind". There was a posse, each of whom could rap better than Snoop. And there was Ray Emery, who can dance. Who knew?

On the whole, I wish for two things: a) better venue management at the Civic Centre; and b) for Ice Cube to return solo. Dude, you rocked. You reminded me how much I like the song You Can Do It (most prominently featured on the Save the Last Dance soundtrack). You reminded me of my very first rap tape, an NWA classic, purchased in 1999 (yes, that would be Straight Outta Compton, which he performed). You, sir, are an artist. You deserve better than Snoop. Get on that, willya?

And Snoop? Don't come back. Cause you sucked. And not only that... you were boring.
