Russell Crowe chooses his opponent

There actually is a reason for posting a photo of Russell Crowe leaving a gym. The star's currently prepping Nottingham with his Gladiator director Ridley Scott, and it's a way neat concept: a revisionist view of the Robin Hood legend, told from the Sheriff of Nottingham's perspective. That's right, he's the good guy this time.

Crowe plays the Sheriff, although there hasn't been news on Robin Hood's casting - well, except for a rumor about Christian Bale that would've been awesome but isn't true - until now. Apparently Crowe saw the little-seen 2007 film Control and loved its star, Sam Riley, so now he wants him for the part. Nothing's official yet, but Crowe's a big star, and big stars tend to get what they want.

Okay, so maybe Crowe leaving a gym wasn't the best illustration of that story.

So who's claiming that Crowe wants Riley for Robin Hood? A blog's "un named source" ? and that the rumor about Christian Bale is wrong? Same "un named source".

Sooner or later, Sir Rid or the actor's people will let us know who's actually been cast. In the meantime, it's ALL rumor.
