Pathetic Move of the Decade Award

What a botch.

Remember those sorta-nude pics of Disney channel "Cheetah Girls" star Adrienne Bailon that leaked online?

The official story was that Bailon's laptop was stolen and the nude pics it contained were ransomed, then leaked online by the thief. Turns out it was much more complicated than that, according to Fox News, of all places.

The laptop actually was stolen -- I think. According to Bailon's (ex-)publicist Jonathan Jaxson, though, Bailon and Jaxson decided to use the news of the stolen laptop to float around a rumor that the laptop contained nude pics of the actress -- in an attempt to drum up publicity for the actress and make her seem more "adult." Since the laptop didn't actually contain any nude pics, it was just supposed to be that -- a rumor.

But here's where it gets even weirder. Nude pics did exist, and they did get leaked -- but not from her laptop. They're apparently from Bailon's Sidekick phone, which was never stolen. So did Bailon leak them herself? Or maybe her boyfriend, Robert Kardashian (Kim's brother)?

According to Jaxson: "Adrienne and her boyfriend swear they didn't leak them, but it wouldn't surprise me if Adrienne did." He also mentions: "Adrienne has been crying for two days straight."

I have no sympathy for her. But it's also worth noting that leaked sex tapes really have guaranteed fame and fortune to Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, so coming up with such schemes is at least 50% as understandable as it is hopelessly pathetic.

The real winner in the situation seems to be Jaxson, who's had a great time talking to various news outlets about this and even runs his own gossip blog where he's been all to happy to indulge in the topic. (Sample excerpt: the word "vengeance" is spelled "vengince.")
