Paris's One Phone Call Was To Barbara Walters

I just watched The View's Hot Topic and apparently Paris Hilton called Barbara Walters over the weekend. Besides releasing an official statement about her not pursuance of an appeal, she talked to Mrs. Walters to try to redeem herself, I guess. Here are some key points in my head right now. I'm sure the whole statement would be all over the internet and media by this afternoon :) .

She said she's 26 years old now, and acting dumb is not cute anymore. Yes folks, she claims acting all ditzy, saying "that's hot" for years, posing for papparazzis, getting out of the car with no underwear on, and so on and so forth has been an act.

She has gone through a spiritual awakening. I hope she's telling the truth, I guess we'll see.

She knows she has power and she hopes to use that power to help out worthy causes like Breast Cancer.

She promised her Mom to never have a drink and drive anymore.

She also clarified the reports that when she said "It's not right, Mom", she meant it wasn't right that she couldn't hug her mother when they took her to jail when the Judge ruled that she should go back there instead of home confinement with an ankle bracelet.

You know, I hope she's telling the truth. I really hope so. She's a 26 yr old woman with a lot of money and power and obviously celebrity power. Use it wisely. I've been critical of her but I'm also for second chances. If she's really had an epiphany of what her purpose in life is supposed to be, then good for her. I guess we shall all see once she's done serving her sentence.

I was pleased to hear Walters was able to speak to Paris. Thank goodness for now there is some clarification of the events previous. Whether she's sincere or not about her future, there will always be an interest in Hilton. She may be known as the Party Heiress but it is supply and demand in the industry, both unceasing.

Thank goodness she is accepting her fate as the pawn in a political chess game. I’m sure each camp had their own ulterior motive, now whether the actions were ethical is a different subject altogether. The saddest part of it all is the insane amount of coverage on Paris’ legal troubles while the yearly G8 Summit was briefly ignored.
