Oprah for President shot down

Oprah_cover.jpgIn another impressive and historic example of how Oprah supports and loves the little guy, she has decided not to sue the guy who jokingly (I hope) has been promoting her run for the presidency. Oprah's depths of kindness were on display when she suggested that her lawyers went a little too far with their cease-and-desist letter when it all could have been handled with a simple, friendly, cease-and-desist phone call.

It should have been handled in a phone call, said Winfrey, who said she's thinking of calling Patrick Crowe of Kansas City, Mo., herself.

Crowe has been campaigning to urge Winfrey to run for president for years, setting up a Web site that has its own campaign song. A month ago, Winfrey's lawyers sent Crowe a letter demanding that he remove her picture from his Web site.

I can see how this would be a tough call for the talk-show host to make. How do you balance your narcissistic need to promote your own face (as on every issue of O magazine) with your desire to ensure that all potential profits derived from your likeness end up on your personal pile?
