No problems with Iron Man 2

I reported last month that Iron Man director Jon Favreau wanted to wait until 2011 -- instead of Marvel Studio's planned 2010 -- to release Iron Man 2. Since Marvel gets the final say, and Favreau didn't have a deal in place yet to direct the sequel, that meant Iron Man 2 might've lost its one-of-a-kind director.

Apparently, though, everything's fine: word is that Favreau and Marvel have all but locked up a deal -- to release the film in 2010. That probably involved paying Favreau a lot more than they initially wanted to.

You can look at it two ways: either Marvel was trying to lowball Favreau out of a fair deal, or Favreau was trying to force Marvel into a higher deal by riling up the internet with news that he might not be back. Ah, Hollywood.

And don't worry, Robert Downey Jr.'s automatically on for the sequel thanks to a clause in his original contract.
