Miley Cyrus: Alive

On Sunday, somebody hacked into Mandy Jiroux's YouTube page and posted a video announcing that her best friend, Miley Cyrus, had been killed in a car accident.

All a hoax, of course. The message read:

"Hey guys, this is Mandy and I have some very sad news :( ...We're very hurt to tell everyone this, but Miley died this morning after being hit by a drunk driver. Miley told us if anything ever happened to her, then we should let her fans know before the public...R.I.P. honey, we will miss you so much."

Sure, that makes a lot of sense. Celebrities often tell their best friends to post YouTube videos in the events of their death before the news is released to the public. I'm sure in the event of a car accident, the cops on the scene would be more than happy to wait until the video went live and made the rounds before announcing it to the press.

Well, anyway, it's certainly the kind of thing that would appear legit enough to make your average 12-year-old's heart skip three or four beats and maybe burst into tears.

Hackers: next time you plan something like this, make sure it involves making a lot of money. Otherwise, it's just pointless.

P.S. I just attended an advance screening of Bolt last night, and Cyrus's role is tiny. She's basically only in the beginning and the ending. The real standout voice performers are Susie Essman and Mark Walton, but you don't know who they are.
