Knocked Up: A Movie Review

Let me say this about that... Katherine Heigl totally made up for half a season of my hating her on Grey's in this one 2 hour and 20 minute movie.

I loved this film. It was funny as hell, with more pop culture references that Trivial Pursuit on DVD. It's loaded with Canadians and people that I swear I know. Wait, just guys that I swear I knew in university (and before - my brothers friends were a little... stonerish).

What did I like most about this movie? The relationship between Paul Rudd's character (Pete) and Leslie Mann's character (Debbie). They play a married couple, the older sister and brother-in-law of Alison (Heigl), who gets accidentally knocked up due to a communications malfunction during a one-night stand. Debbie and Pete are pretty real, a couple who love each other but who have forgotten who to communicate effectively, including their different needs - one to spend more time together, the other to get some alone time. And, Paul Rudd makes me laugh. I've loved him since he was in The Object of My Affection. I love him to this day. He makes this movie, really.

Everyone else is going to say you should see this movie for Seth Rogan or for Katherine Heigl. I'm telling you, the heart of this movie is this couple, and especially Paul Rudd. And yes, though I tried to tell someone this was a great movie for guys, it is still at its core, a chick flick. Go to her, ladies!
