Johnny Depp mentions playing the Riddler

Despite Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan being on vacation and not signed on to do a third Batman movie, rumors have been flying around (like we all knew they would) about who would be in it and who the villains would be.

Aaron Eckhart, who -- SPOILER ALERT -- recently assured the press that Two-Face will not return, floated Angelina Jolie's name as a potential for Catwoman. (Clever answer, Eckhart; you took all the heat off yourself.)

Even before that, the UK's Telegraph ran a blatantly made-up story that claimed Cher, yes, Cher, would play Catwoman, while Johnny Depp would play the Riddler.

I'll stress again that the article was blatantly made-up, but a radio host actually managed to float the rumors past Depp:

Host: Rumors on the internet about you doing the Riddler.

Depp: Oh yeah, I've heard about that. Not that I know of.

Host: You'd be a good choice.

Depp: It seems like it'd be a fun gig for a while, yeah.

Are you listening, Nolan?

P.S. The Dark Knight broke the $500 million mark in the U.S. last Sunday. It's only the second film in history to do that, after Titanic.
