Joaquin Phoenix IS Joking, Right?

So Joaquin Phoenix is apparently pursuing a rap career after declaring that he was quitting acting late last year. He popped up in Las Vegas's Lavo nightclub on the 16th, and luckily, a camera was there to capture some of it:

A few things may be happening here:

1. Joaquin Phoenix actually quit movies to focus on a rap career. He's always been enigmatic, and this is just the newest weird thing he's doing.

2. Joaquin Phoenix is on something. He already went to rehab for alcohol addiction in 2005, and he looks far from completely present in either of these videos.

3. The whole thing is some kind of weird hoax/performance art/mockumentary. Did I mention Phoenix's friend Casey Affleck has been going around videotaping everything he's doing?

If it's #3, it's hard to tell exactly what they have planned, but that's better than #2.

If it turns out to be #1, the most boring and yet most bizarre option, well...I got nothing. Too weird.
