Iron Man continues to conquer the world

Robert Downey Jr. was never going to make it as a leading man, Jon Favreau's last movie (Zathura) was a box office failure, and worst of all, Iron Man was a second-tier superhero.

Now those are all lies.

After its $102 million opening weekend (and an extra $14 million on Monday and Tuesday), nobody in the Iron Man camp feels like they're in Hell this week. This is the Hollywood people dream of: everybody loves you. Everybody loves your movie. Heck, EW.com even said Downey should be nominated for an Oscar, which is more than a bit ridiculous. I wonder how his funny-but-potentially-controversial turn in Tropic Thunder (playing a dude pretending he's black) will fare after all this.

Enjoy it as long as you can before the inevitable sequel talk starts. Which was, uh, roughly last Saturday. Whoops.
