Grey's Anatomy May 17, 2007

Here's a recap of the best episode of the 06-07 Grey's season:

The race for the Chief: Mark, Addy and Burke were not chosen. Derek was, but he turned it down and told the Chief he should keep the job so that he could do it all over the right way.
Adele lost the baby but found her husband again.
Three versions of the "choose me, love me, pick me" speech were delivered: one from Izzy to George (sucked), one from Ava to Karev (really good), and one from Derek to Meredith (that's the end of that relationship, but he can give me that speech any time he wants).
Callie was named Chief Resident over Bailey, who thinks she failed her interns because George failed his intern exam.
George agreed to make a baby with Callie before he found out his results; now he has to decide whether to give up his career or redo his intern year. He cleaned out his locker.
Burke called off the wedding as Christina was on her way to the altar, saying he was trying to make her who he wanted her to be, and that he loved that woman, not Christina as she actually is.
Burke left, took his favourite belongings and left. Christina said that she was free and then had an absolute conniption. Mer had to use scissors to cut off her hideous wedding dress.
Mer called off the wedding at the front of the church, and seemed to answer Derek's "choose me" speech with an "it's over, so over". Again, he can deliver that speech to me any time he wants.
Alex, after refusing to give Ava a reason to stay in Seattle instead of going back to the hills with her husband, actually listened to a woman (Addy) for once and went back to the hospital to get her. By the time he got there, she was already gone.
George met the incoming interns, including the woman who hit on Derek at Joe's last week. Turns out it was Meredith's sister (I'm still holy crap-ing over this).
The medical stuff was all entirely irrelevant.
So, what does it all mean? Lots of cliffhangers. Will Mer and Der make it? Will George really quit medicine, and if he does will Callie still want him? What will happen between him and Izzy? And Christina? How will she recover from the loss of Burke? Will Alex ever grow up? Will Derek regret giving up the Chief? Will I keep this ep on my PVR for the entire summer?

Addison segued well into "Private Practice". Burke's seemingly written off the show. Seattle Grace needs some new attendings. And what will the crew be like as residents? Did they all automatically get spots at Seattle Grace or will there be a competition for those too?

This episode made up for a lot of crappy ones from this season. A lot. Not enough though. Shonda, next year needs to be better. More consistent. Make me like Izzy again. Make a bigger role for Bailey. And, for the love of god, could we have one stable relationship? Please? Just for a year or so? I'd really like that.
