Gossip Girl Spin-Off: A Period Piece?

A Gossip Girl spin-off was rumored a while ago, but the rumor was that it would focus on Taylor Momsen's character -- just like in the spin-off book series, The It Girl. Turns out they are doing a spin-off, but Momsen (who, by the way, is a ninja) has nothing to do with it.

No, instead, the show will be set in the '80s and follow Lily van der Woodsen -- future mother of Serena (Blake Lively), played in the present by Kelly Rutherford -- during her wild n' crazy teenage years.

I wonder if they can find a teenager who's as hot as Rutherford?
