Or, When Politics and Hollywood Meet, Without Involving George Clooney...

Yep, the powers that be in California's courts ruled that gay and lesbian couples can legally marry. First up, according to TMZ, is Ellen DeGeneres and her longtime partner Portia de Rossi (the actress who played Lindsay in Arrested Development). Ellen apparently announced it when taping her show today.

Screenwriter John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) also announced that he's getting married this summer via his blog. Okay, so he's not that famous, but I read said blog, so I'm including him in the celebration.

High-fives were had; T.R. Knight, Melissa Etheridge, and other high-profile homosexual entertainers contributed the usual "I'm proud of America today" quotes; even Ahh-nold himself said he'd proudly stand by the courts' ruling. This from the guy who once said "I believe gay marriage should be between a man and a woman."
