Dixie Chicks keep on talking

dixie_chicks_movie.jpgNormally I don't have a whole lot of interest in what comes out of the mouths of country singers. I've heard the songs...cowboy hat..blah blah...broken heart..yadda yadda...the president is an embarrassment...huh? Now there's a tune I can whistle in the shower. I enjoyed this little Dixie Chicks blow-up a few years back and I'm curious to see how it all plays out on film.

The film is a portrait of the group, at the pivotal point when lead singer Natalie Maines tells London concertgoers in 2003 that she was ashamed that President Bush is from Texas, their home state.

The film gives some greater context and background to the comment and the ensuing controversy title, though their fans' reaction can be gleaned easily enough from the title, "Shut Up and Sing". I suppose I wouldn't want to pay to see a concert and have to sit through political statements either, but the fact remains that these comments were made to a British audience that probably enjoyed them well enough. It's the country music fans back in the US who took it upon themselves to politicize the American concerts and turn this into a bigger deal than it actually was.

I would like to know who the Dixie Chicks paid to win all those awards. They sure as hell didn't deserve them. And the loud month just can't shut-up. The two sisters need to kick her ass out of the band.
The problem with this country is we forget too easy. The Dixie Chicks can say they support the troops all they want but they just say it now to save their careers.
I won't forget and the Dixie Chicks suck and always will.
