David Somebody Wins a Singing Contest

Two music posts in a row? I guess this one's impossible to ignore. It's become a point of pride for me to say that I've never seen a non-audition episode of American Idol - I just can't help but not care - but since at least 31.7 million of you do care, I should probably mention that David Cook beat David Archutarantulacunnulingus last night.

More interesting was this very weird, very random, very non-explanatory moment in the middle featuring Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. They're all toplining the upcoming action comedy Tropic Thunder, so I guess it was done to promote that, but, uh...well, whatever:

   Archutarantulacunnulingus - funny! I always called him David Arugula. Like the, um, lettuce.

   OK, I admit it, I'm one of "those" people who never miss an episode. Actually, I vow not to watch the auditions next year -- that's the part that I hate.

   Oh, and I love David Cook. LOVE!
