David Duchovny, Sex and Porn Addict

Last Thursday, David Duchovny checked into rehab for sex addiction, according to MSNBC and eighteen hundred other outlets:

“I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction,” the actor said in a statement released to Access [Hollywood]. “I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family.”

Ouch...bad timing. His wife, Tea Leoni, is about to star in Ghost Town, a comedy with Ricky Gervais and Greg Kinnear: it opens in just two weeks, on September 19th.

Leoni has decided to forgo the movie's press tour in order to "be at her husband's side" -- i.e., avoid hundreds of awkward questions from tabloid reporters who laugh in the face of tact.

The rumors about Duchovny himself are reaching a fever pitch. First it was said to only be a porn addiction; then he made out with a Californication extra; then he full-out cheated on Leoni with his tennis instructor. Point is, nobody's quite sure of the extent of Duchovny's issues.

And yes, the irony of him recently starring in a TV show called Californication, about a sex addict, no less, does not escape me, or anyone else.

I attended a press junket for Leoni about six months ago where she said she didn't star in very many movies because she has a good life and a "sexy husband."

Weird stuff.
