Da Vinci case tossed

da_vinci_code.jpgOne of weakest copyright infringement cases in recent memory has come to a close as sad-sack author Lewis Perdue had his case bounced by the US Supreme Court. Perdue was attempting to argue that Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code ripped off key elements from his earlier novel "Daughter of God". Rather than go the traditional route of claiming that plot or dialogue had been lifted, the plaintiff was hoping to capitalize on ridiculously vague similarities.

Perdue had alleged that Brown copied the basic premise of Daughter of God, including notions that history is controlled by victors, not losers, and the importance of the Roman Emperor Constantine in requiring a transition from a female to a male-dominated religion, the judge said.

Wow. History is written by the victors. Nice work there, Perdue. It was almost as brilliant and quotable a concept when Brown stole it from you as when Winston Churchill said it over 60 years ago.

Perdue is already hard at work on his next project, a memoir entitled "Why Won't Anyone Take Me or My Lousy Fiction Seriously?"

The Da Vinci Code was about as silly as the Omen. Obviously someone didn't do their homework again when it comes to the Bible. That is why it has no validity. Thank God.
