Adopting a better attitude towards Madonna

I'm not entirely clear why there's so much uproar about this Madonna adoption business.

Earlier this week, the Human Rights Consultative Committee, said to represent 67 organizations, brought a legal action challenging the decision of the government of Malawi to provide an exception to the laws discouraging foreign adoption by requiring prospective parents to spend 18 months in the country being evaluated before they are allowed to adopt.

Sure, she circumvented Malawi's law, but she did so at the behest of the child's father and with a positive result for everyone involved. The kid will get to avoid a life of abject poverty (though I'm sure he's doomed to a life of bad rockstar hair) and the endowment Madonna left behind will benefit many other children.

I'm not surprised that there's some knee-jerk reaction to her legal dodge, but it's been a long time since we've had an expectation for the famous to play by the same rules as the rest of us, and this just doesn't seem like a good place to make a stand. If we want a worldwide backlash against celebrity entitlement, we should push for tougher sentences for offences ranging from drunk-driving to murder and worry less about someone who's giving a kid a home.

   Nobody deserves more hassles than Madonna after she mocked Christ's Crucifixtion, after 20 years of insulting Christians, after publicly molesting girls onstage, after her phoney accent image when she started off as a low class white trash prostitute!

   That is only the start of it, the list is so long!

   Andrea Pyser was right when she called her a monster! Yes! Stop this monster from getting what she wants.
